Arnold Palmer said, “GoIf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect.” Boy, was he right!
What I believe Mr. Palmer was getting at…
Simple – golf is a club, ball, and target game. You see the target, aim the clubface towards the target, and swing to hit the ball to that target.
It’s not easy by any means. But the game truly can be that simple when it comes to playing your best golf for your potential when on the course.
Complicated – a simple game, made difficult by golfers on their journey to consistency, perfection,or the worry of how other golfers may perceive them if they aren’t really good at golf.
I’m not saying that improving your golf swing isn’t important to becoming a better golfer. But for recreational golfers (many of which who don’t practice) thinking about turning your hips, not swaying, keeping your head behind the ball, etc is what keeps them from focusing on the objective of the shot which is to hit the ball in the direction of their target.
